Orica is seeking a safety-focused Plant Operator to join our Manufacturing & Production department within the Mining & Quarrying industry. As a Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of process equipment used in the manufacture of commercial explosives and related products. Working in a highly regulated environment, you will monitor and control plant systems, conduct routine inspections, and respond promptly to alarms or process deviations to ensure optimal production quality and output. In this role, you will operate, adjust, and troubleshoot automated and manual process lines, including mixers, reactors, conveyors, and packaging equipment, following strict standard operating procedures and safety protocols. You will complete start-up, shutdown, and changeover activities, perform basic mechanical checks, and escalate maintenance issues to the appropriate teams. Accurate recording of production data, completion of log sheets, and adherence to quality and environmental standards will be essential aspects of your day-to-day work. Safety is at the core of Orica’s culture, and you will actively participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will be expected to identify hazards, report incidents and near misses, and contribute to the development of safer work practices. Compliance with all regulatory requirements, including handling of hazardous materials and adherence to environmental controls, is critical in this position. As part of a collaborative and solutions-oriented team, you will work closely with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and quality staff to meet production targets while maintaining high standards of product integrity and plant reliability. You will support process improvements and operational excellence initiatives by providing feedback on plant performance, suggesting enhancements, and taking part in training and cross-skilling activities. Orica offers a workplace where proactive individuals can grow their skills and build a long-term career in a global organization. As a Plant Operator, you will gain exposure to innovative blasting and manufacturing technologies, structured on-the-job training, and opportunities to progress into more senior technical or leadership roles. With a strong emphasis on safety, sustainability, and teamwork, this role is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and committed to operating to the highest standards every shift.
