Job Description

Description:

Healthy Hens, Healthy Eggs, Heathy Planet:

At Pete & Gerry's, we were first to do it better, and are still doing it best. For nearly 30 years, we've been on a mission to produce healthy, delicious eggs and partner with family farms for meaningful impact. By raising hens outdoors as nature intended, we stay true to our roots every step of the way by keeping animal welfare, planet-friendly farming practices, and high-quality taste and nutrition at the heart of all we do, so you can always believe in what you buy.

Healthy Together

At Pete & Gerry’s, we believe that when we care for each other, we all thrive. Across our farms, offices, and communities, we act as one flock — united by respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to doing what’s right. We create an environment where every person feels valued, supported, and empowered to grow, because our success depends on the wellbeing of the people who make our mission possible.

The Role at a Glance:

The Manager of Health and Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the Company's safety and health programs to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulations. The scope of the role spans all departments, partnering with operational leaders to drive safety initiatives across the functions. Key responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, developing training programs, investigating incidents, managing safety records, and collaborating with management to foster a strong safety culture.

How You’ll Create Greater Impact:

In this role, you’ll help deliver the highest quality product while upholding our unwavering commitment to animal welfare, food safety, and responsible farming. You’ll act boldly, embrace continuous improvement, and partner with teammates and customers to deliver wins.

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in line with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, perform job hazard analyses, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Lead investigations into workplace incidents and accidents to determine root causes, report findings, and recommend preventative measures.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations (e.g., OSHA). Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
  • Monitor safety performance, analyze safety data, and prepare reports for management.
  • Collaborate with management to plan and implement the safety protocol budget.
  • Manage safety incentive programs, workers' compensation claims, and safety committees.
  • Analyze injury/illness trends and implement improvement strategies.
  • Lead emergency response planning and drills.
  • Act as a point of contact for state or federal health and safety agencies.
  • All issues or non-conformances related to food safety or quality assurance must immediately be reported to the Quality Assurance Manager or designated Quality Assurance Supervisor for investigation, product disposition, containment, and corrective action. All food safety, regulatory, or significant quality concerns are escalated to the Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance for further communication with senior leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring to the Flock:

We are one team — united by respect and a shared commitment to doing what’s right. What we do every day connects to something bigger.

You’ll bring your experience, perspective, and pride in your work. We value collaboration, curiosity, and diverse viewpoints — because they make our flock stronger.

  • Required Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Required 5+ years’ experience managing health and safety, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
  • Bilingual communication skills preferred (Spanish/English).
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing fleet safety, driver compliance, and incident prevention
  • Experience with risk assessments, incident investigation, and data analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with different departments and employees.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and external auditors
  • Proficiency with safety management software and standard office applications.
  • Up to ~ 30% travel as required by role responsibilities
  • Complies with policies and standards

Work Schedule & Hours:

  • Day Shift - Flexible Schedule
  • Work hours are primarily during the day, with flexibility in start and end times based on business needs.
  • Shifts may extend up to 10–12 hours depending on project demands, deadlines, or organizational priorities.
