Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This full-time Special Education Teacher position supports a 2nd-3rd grade Special Day Class focused on students with social-emotional and behavioral needs in Petaluma, CA. The role requires expertise in behavior management strategies and the ability to work effectively with students who may exhibit challenging behaviors, including swearing and occasional aggression toward peers and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students social-emotional and behavioral needs.
• Utilize positive behavior intervention strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors.
• Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning and growth.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including counselors, therapists, and parents, to provide comprehensive support.
• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and behavior incidents.
• Adapt instructional approaches to meet diverse learning styles and abilities.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching credential.
• Experience working with students exhibiting social-emotional and behavioral challenges.
• Strong behavior management and de-escalation skills.
• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in high-stress situations.
