Riggs Industries is seeking a Safety Coordinator who will plan, direct, and implement organization safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs OSHA record keeping maintain 300 logs.
  • Complete 301 incident report & post 300A summary of work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Conducts weekly toolbox meetings.
  • Assists in the production of OSHA written programs, administers, and performs training such as bloodborne pathogen exposure, confined space entry initially upon hire, and annually thereafter.
  • Assists/performs crane inspections & training.
  • Administers new hire and annual or required refresher training for topics such as: emergency planning and response, fall protection, fire extinguisher, hearing conservation, lockout / tag out, personal protective equipment, respiratory protection & annual fit test.
  • Coordinates with outside provider for annual & refresher training for rigging & forklift safety.
  • Maintains the hazard communication program and performs training when necessary.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Conducts accident investigations & produces reports.
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in safety management preferred; or one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desired.
