Job Description

Medical Writer / Content Specialist - Healthcare Communications (Promotional)

Hybrid – Philadelphia, PA

Who We Are

We’re a small, tight-knit healthcare communications team supporting a range of pharmaceutical and biotech organizations on a global scale. Our focus is helping translate complex clinical and scientific information into clear, practical materials that can be used across commercial and educational functions.

Our work spans multiple touchpoints—from internal training content to external-facing materials designed for healthcare professionals, patients, and payer audiences. The goal is always the same: make sophisticated data understandable, relevant, and actionable.

Working Environment

This is a team-oriented, high-energy environment where individuals are expected to contribute, take initiative, and stay accountable to both timelines and quality. The group works closely together in-office part of the week, with an emphasis on collaboration, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.

About the Position

This opportunity blends scientific writing with creative communication. You’ll be responsible for shaping content that sits across both educational and promotional use cases—balancing accuracy with clarity and engagement.

Rather than starting from fully developed briefs, you’ll often be working from early inputs—such as client conversations, draft ideas, or fragmented notes—and turning them into structured, polished deliverables. The role requires both critical thinking and attention to detail, as well as comfort working across a range of formats and therapeutic areas.

What You’ll Be Doing

Writing & Content Creation

  • Produce scientifically grounded materials for a variety of outputs including slide decks, training content, educational pieces, and long-form documents
  • Develop concise messaging and campaign copy to support brand initiatives targeting healthcare audiences

Shaping Ideas Into Deliverables

  • Interpret early-stage input and transform it into defined narratives, outlines, and completed drafts
  • Organize content in a way that supports downstream design and enhances readability and flow

Research & Quality Assurance

  • Identify and review relevant literature to support claims and messaging
  • Ensure all work meets internal standards for accuracy, sourcing, and regulatory readiness
  • Apply consistent language and messaging across materials

Project Management & Execution

  • Handle multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining deadlines and quality standards
  • Adjust content proactively when updates to messaging, claims, or safety language occur
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to keep projects on track

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with colleagues across creative, strategy, account, and design functions
  • Participate in discussions where content direction is being shaped or refined
  • Incorporate feedback thoughtfully while maintaining strategic alignment
  • Occasionally contribute to meetings or events requiring content expertise

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • Approximately 3–5 years in medical writing, healthcare communications, or pharmaceutical content development
  • Prior exposure to agency, biotech, pharma, or medical education environments is beneficial

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline such as biology, chemistry, or a related field
  • Advanced degrees or clinical training are advantageous but not required

Skill Set

  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific information clearly
  • Experience working with references, citations, and review processes (e.g., regulatory or compliance review)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-driven setting
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and motivated to grow professionally
