Lawyers on Demand, a Consilio company is actively recruiting for contract, Spanish to English interpreters for an ONSITE position for a prestigious Law Firm client in Chicago, Il .

About the Role

We’re looking for experienced interpreters to help applicants communicate effectively during USCIS interviews. These are highly important conversations where accuracy and professionalism matter. You’ll be the bridge between the applicant and the officer, ensuring every word is conveyed accurately.

Schedule

Full-time hours for the first 2 weeks and then on a hearing by hearing basis after (hearings are approximately 5 hours in length with multiple ONSITE hearings per week).

What You’ll Do

• Translate questions and answers exactly as spoken—no paraphrasing or commentary. Always using first‐person voice (e.g., “I live in California”).
• Remain impartial and keep all information private.
• Read short documents aloud in the other language in this case, Spanish.
• Use advanced note‐taking techniques to manage extended dialogue smoothly.
• Arrive on time, dress appropriately, and work respectfully with officers and applicants.

What We’re Looking For

• Near‐native fluency in Spanish and English, including legal and immigration terminology.
• State Court Certified Interpreter (written & oral exam) , or Federal Court Certified Interpreter (FCICE) – Spanish ; REQUIRED .
• Candidates must be able to travel from immigration sites as needed; travel reimbursement may be available.

Experience

• 3 years in USCIS or legal interpreting, and 1,000+ interpreting hours per year for the past 2 years.
• Ability to interpret long segments without pauses and use professional note‐taking systems (symbols, abbreviations, structured layouts, etc.).
• Neutrality and discretion are a must.
